Default lq9 buildup

hey guys, just picked up a 40K lq9 this weekend. I finally got what i wanted. now i just gotta find a 4l80e. Either way though, the engine came as a shortblock. The internals are a little dirty, but nothing a little tlc can take care of. I am thinkin about throwing a comp 212/218 high lift in it, and possibly mill the 317 heads .030, and maybe clean them up a bit. I want to build a torquey DD to tow and be half decent on gas!!! I am up in the air if i will ever be boosted, but i like the sound of a 10.5:1 6.0L. I am not sure if i should do the main bearings, and re-ring it while i am at it. Everything seems tight, and is not taken apart yet. I want to know if i should leave well enough alone and just clean it up, or completely tear it down, and do all new bearings. And not spend tons o money.
thanks

if it only has 40k on it i would leave it alone and cam it
Maybe an oil pump just to be safe!
you might wanna look into a vinci trucker 216/224 from what your describing you want.
Search the dyno section theres a a 6.0 build with a trucker cam made great torque and power

as of right now i might just leave the somewhat built 4l60e in there. It has been pretty good to me so far, and i really dont beat on it much. I have all the necessary precautions to keep it running for a while. I am up in the air on cam selection. I have three options. Mill the 317 heads and leave the stock lq9 camshaft, use a z06 camshaft i have, or run the tr220 camshaft i have in my 5.3. or just sell them all and get either a 212/218 or vinci trucker cam. Again torque based in mind, and a N/A motor for a while. thanks

yea i did read up on it last night grey matter. Seems like a nice setup and torque curve. I was just thinking of re-using my tr220, but i might just sell it and get something more suited to my needs and liking for a torquey motor.
