Default LQ4 ticking noise

How many of you are running around with a ticking or tapping lq4. I think this may be a "normal " noise for this 2001 lq4 , but my 4.8 didn't have any noise and its bugging the crap out of me. I replaced the oil pump o-ring . It comes and goes but it most noticeable at a drive thru or next to other cars where it can bounce off of something . I know I am not alone so let me know what your experiences are.

Mine ticks. Valve train related. Toying with the idea of trying different springs, rockers (adjustable) to quiten it down.

At idle you can hear it tick from feet away, against walls like you say, at cruise it makes it into the cab. Mostly all the time.

Better make sure you put in the right o-ring. I had the wrong one in there and had ticking, air was getting by the o-ring. Mine when it started would go away and come back then just stayed. good luck

i havent heard one that dosent give a slight tick in drive throughs. its the chevy sewing machine. the more you mod the truck, the more noticable it seems to become. i figure its lifters/springs etc.

Mine did the very instant i first fired her up. Everyone says it's from the cam, springs, the Titanium retainers make it a little louder as well. But basically unless you go with a larger pushrod like a 7.425 it will be fairly loud. But you risk loosing a little power with the larger push rod so i just deal with it.
At times i think something is wong with it but it's just my head playing tricks on me cause the noise has been there since first start like i said.

From what ive read on this subject its only a bad tick if it is getting louder as the rpms goies up. Mine ONLY does it at idle and is rare at idle.

I think it comes from failed lifters. I have a stock internal engine and it does it. So I know its not an O-ring, on mine at least.
