Default Lq4?

Looking at an advertised 07 lq4. I thought they had dished pistons? Thoughts?

Looks dished to me. Along with some extra valve clearance.

I've heard of guys getting those last year LQ4 and they had the LY6 pistons or something like that. I've never seen it tho.

Thats definitely not the same pistons as the 99-06 LQ4s.

I'm hoping to pick this up next week. Shortblock. I guess the valve spring retainer let go and the valve kissed the piston. Doesn't seem to be any unrepairable damage. Going to build another lq9 for my Sierra Denali.

My guess is a 2007 6.0 LY6 GEN IV out of a Tahoe, or probably a Silverado, and somebody punched something in the computer poorly. They came up with a guess that it's a 2007 (classic) LQ4. My 2000 LQ4 doesn't have valve reliefs, but the LY6 does. I like guessing, so it probably means they weren't the ones that pulled it, or have first hand knowledge of that engine. I would ask more questions, and probably end up saving my gas and time.

Here's another pic. Knock sensors in the valley. Doesn't that mean LQ4?

Knock sensors in the valley definitely makes it a Gen III
LQ4 or LQ9

Where's the best bang for the buck to get a rebuilt kit with pistons?
