Perfomabuilt claims there level 3 60E will handle 700hp/700tq. I guess I am going to test that.

If you get it all dialed in right you should hit 550RWHP fairly easily.

FWIW.... I believe the reason the Used parts dealer said no on the interchange is because of the change of exterior compentens like the electronic throtle body and the return less fuel system that will not work in the early truck wich had a cable throtlle body and had a return style fuel system... Some of the intake manifolds had an Egr tube passage near the throttlebody and the later ones don't have a provession for that...

Its not really a big deal as long as your original Parts are useable They bolt up exactally the same... all you would really need to be concerned with is the basic long block and that it's in good shape as they described...

Hope that helps clear it up for you and others that might be looking to do the same. Yes $1000 is a good deal esspecialy since it includes delivery.... On a side note Always inspect it before taking possesion of it. Make sure it rotates freely 360 degress.

At work, I have had 3 used enginges and 1 transmission (Ironically None were Chevys) that gave me a problem... One, we bought as a basic long block that was was supposed to be an 80k pull out. We only needed the bottom half but It ended up haveing a broken timming belt and the valves kissed the pistons... The other one had a cracked Oil pan that was not viseable. I installed the engine, went to fill it up and about a quart of fluid leaked all over the floor as I started filling it up. it was a 4x4 and it was a pain in the *** to swap the pan out. another one had dual chains and one of the chains let go inside. It would only turn about 1/2 over till it became bound up by the broken chain... Oh and I got 1 used transmission that seemed ok untill I put it in and started it up, The pump was going out and the clutches were burned up... That one was real iritating because they said they were gonna get us another one. After they screwed around for nearly a week I had to drive out there, drop it off in person and get our old core back and a cash refund. Good thing I get paid by the hour...

Thats not what He said. The Lq4 in 99 and 00 had a Longer crank rear snout to work with the 4L80E. In 01 they started using a standard length rear snout and adding a spacer between the crank and fly wheel. In order to use an 04 LQ4 in a 99 with a 4l60E you have to remove the spacer and use the fly wheel, the shorter bolts, and starter from your existing 4.8/5.3 . You will also have to swap out your intake mainfold wich has a cable driven throttle body Vs. the 04 with it's electronically activated servo throttle body. Your 99 will also most likely have an EGR set up off the Exahust manifold and the 04 will probally not have provessions for that.
