Default The little 4.8 that could?

My friend and I are determined to make his gmc 4.8 faster than his friends Titan 5.6. The Titan is stock with 33's. He is about to put in a comp cam 216/222 .561 .566 111 lsa with hardened pushrods, blue ls7 springs, new lifters, long tubes, a 3000-3200 circle d stall and a good 91 tune. The truck has stock 3.42 gears with 35's 😬. Anyone think we have a chance? If not what should we do next?

Ps the gmc is an extended cab short bed 2wd and the Titan is a crew cab 4x4

The gears and tires are killing everything the 4.8 has, what year is it?

Definitely need some gears to help it off the line.
I'm guessing since he has 35's he's lifted a good bit too?

It's my truck and yes it is lifted 6 inches. It's a 2002 and hopefully I'll be getting 4.56s and a locker somewhat soon. Gotta save up after cam and tc and all that but I'm determined! Any other recommendations?

I would like to do the gears but the lifters are making a very loud noise and it keeps getting worse so i need to replace those and i might as well do the cam and other stuff while its apart. And i can only afford that stuff for right now so ill have to wait a little for the gears :/

3.42 gears are going to KEEP that truck slow.
