Mainly budget and in the end it will make the same horsepower I could have done with a forged 5.3.
I got a hit on a $150 5.3 local to me here in Ohio. Weisco and Callie rods later with bearings cost 1200. Machine it and assemble it have well less the 2k in something that should make for a strong boost engine and my snail will work great on. With 317 heads compression will come out to 9.5 with the weisco pistons. Game on.
