Default Just another 4.8 cam question

Ok well I've been search the threads for a cam for my 4.8 and have narrowed it down to 2 cams I believe. I'm wanting a mean chop with good torque and get nice gas mileage. I will be daily driven and I don't want to put a stall in it. So tell me what ya think. The cams I'm looking at are

comp cam - 206/212 lsa 112

vinci - 210/218 lsa 112

Oh and sounds clips are greatly appreciated

Neither of those cams have alot of overlap so you won't have a mean chop, but either one will wok with the stock converter. The Comp would be best with the stock verter but you'll hear the Vinci a little more. I've driven trucks with both of those cams basically and I like them both. The Vinci I drove has a Yank 3k stall and I thought that was a perfect combo.

He mentioned that he doesn't want to change the tq converter, a 216/220 would give up a bit down low in a 4.8...

What would you suggest that would have a mean chop with good low end.

Unfortunately you can't get the best of both worlds, torquey low end cams generally have less overlap and less lope....if you want it to chop set the idle really low.

I recently installed the 206/212 on a 112 in my 4.8 I will try and dig up the idle clip of it. Honestly if you do not want a convertor this is the cam for you

That is a great choice in a 4.8L with a stock converter.
