Default The thread from the dead.

Well I finally got my replacment engine, I wanted a 4.8 (or 6.0) but they gave me a 5.3 instead. It looks to be out of a 04 silverado. Well with this Engine going in tomarro, the LQ4 can be tore down and built to handle the a bit more boost...
Anyone care to take a guess at what is wrong with the LQ4?
Too much crank case pressure.
Leak down on a few cylinders not inline with others.
No missfires, (runs good)
I've put almost 3,000 miles on sence this thread was started.

Head gasket
Or piston?
Other?

Any way here are some pic's of the replacment. Hopefully it will only be in for a few months....

I hate to say it, but I think you will get a handfull of broken rings when you tear down 1,3,5,7.

Well it looks like the head gasket was o.k. NO Pistons were broken, and the rings were in fair shape. (Only pulled # 1) So What was wrong, as of right now, the engine was just tiered......

btw, the 5.3 is a monster.... lol

How much did you pay for the 5.3, and shipping?

Thanks.

I did not have time to pull the engine down all the way. I'll do that in a week or three, then ship the block out to get some work done. I did however pull number 1 (# 1 was one of the bad ones) No brokin piston, No brokin rings..

I HUGE thanks goes out to Neveada79 for the help

5.3 waiting....

It was a fun swap. You could consider a 1 day swap a fast turn around considering half of that was talking about women. and you doing most of the work. You give me a call again when you need another engine swap... cya in a couple weeks.
