Default How Would My SSS Respond To This Cam?

Well I have the complete left over valve train setup from my 5.3L when I sold it from my C10. So its free for me to install main reason I am asking not because its going to be the best cam setup but because its free. I sold the 5.3 as stock and kept the Comp Cam, Valve Springs and Push rods. The Cam is a Comp LSR Part Number: 54-455-11 Grind Number: 265LR HR12 Specs: 215/223 duration .604/.610 lift on 112lsa.

What I'm wondering is how do you think my SS would respond to installing that cam? Comp says: "Very strong torque and excellent response. Works best in heavy vehicles, low rpm applications." So I'm guessing it would work pretty good with the stock converter as it did in my 5.3L in the 69' C10. I have basically everything to install it except, timing chain, maybe oil pump, and Marine 8.1L injectors. I'm also running the stock manifolds and exhaust system and don't plan on any changes there. Would there be a Gas mileage drop? My truck is a daily driver so does anyone have any concerns there? I know the 5.3 did great with it I'm just wondering what gains to expect from the SS with the cam? 1/4 mile? Just curious on some opinions.

I would go for it. Looks like a good cam for a daily driver.

Looks like it would work rather well. But even the stock cam can benefit from a 2600 stall.

Id still put one of circle d 3200 reworked TB converters, those things drive really well and will make a big difference off the line with your truck. You should throw some headers on it and run the stock exhaust to get full benefit of that cam and still be quiet.

That should be a good cam in your SS. A converter always helps but you can get by without it in a 6.0

I hear you guys about the converter my C10 has the Circle D 3200, but for the SS I was just looking for a tiny bit more power nothing serious or any record breaking times from a converter but I do understand it would be way better off with one. I'm still on the fence if I even want to bother installing a cam in the SS because its already nice as is not sure if I want to mod the engine.

I didnt see anything about being supercharged. The LSR lobes that the cam is cut on will help to keep the .006 overlap in check so the 112lsa wont be as bad as a lazier lobe. However ya, I would keep the LSA at 114 and higher. What type of blower is it? I would run it with a Cent. blower just not a roots or Twin screw.
