wooden dowel rods . . . or the Thunder Racing lifter tools, but even then, the lifter tools do not work on all the motors

just at random . . . they don't always work at first . . . but I can chase them with the wooden rods, and then shove the rods in and that usually takes care of it

5/16ths metal dowel rod is what i will be going with.

I think I'll be using the magnet method it seems simple enough and efficient.

ive always used the wooden dowels.. ive lost count on how many cams ive done..never had a problem

don't bother . . . you're still going to have slack in the movement . . . in the telescoping part of the "pin"
