Default How hard is it...

To take the engine out of a 1996 k1500 truck? I am going to be doing a cam/intake swap, and was wondering, would it be easier to just put the engine on a stand, as I have to remove the heads anyways to drill out the pushrod holes to 1/2". How hard is it to disconnect from the transmission and all the emissions/fuel injection stuff?

Oh, and can I put longtubes on the engine while it's out and drop it in, making sure not to hit anything, or do I have to do that while the engine is in the truck?

Thanks

It would be easier to do it in the truck...... When I pull a motor I usually pull the tranny also, in a 2 wheel drive it's easier. If it is four wheel drive it really will be easier to do it in the truck. Those engine bays are pretty big so you have room.

Yup, it's a Z-71. The more I thought about it, it would be better to do the intake manifold in the truck, as I need to wire the fuel injectors anyways.

Thanks
