How to disconnect fuel line?
#1
How do I disconnect these fuel lines? We're doing an engine swap and we need to pull the fuel lines to get the intake manifold off. We already have the clips off.

you do it with a fuel line seperator but you dont need to take them apart to take the intake off. 1 fuel line goes to the passenger side of the intake and its held down with a small bracket and a screw. on the driver side i believe there are 2 lines that go into the fuel rail with the same style bracket and screw. remember to get some rags ready and release the pressure before you do this. also there are blue o-rings that are on the lines up under the brackets and they may or may not come off when you pull the lines off. they are small and easy to lose.

thanks, but I'm trying to get the "bosses" off from the fuel line. It's the round chorome looking fittings. I did a search and found an old post about cutting an old hose clamp off and shoving it in there to release the clips.

Like said above, all parts stores carry them. Go to one and ask for a fuel line disconnect tool. They are sized for the diameter of the line so you will need 2 different ones(3/8" and 5/16" I think) or a set with several.

sorry for the late reply but i went and bought one b/c i thought it was required but i got home and got to taking it apart and realized they didnt need disconnecting. the bolts/screws have torx (star) heads so dont strip them out trying to use a allen wrench, that would be a pita trying to get them out. so you are wanting the end pieces of the fuel lines??

We were trying to separate the flex lines coming up from the firewall from the hard pipes on the manifold. Got the special tool from the parts store and got it worked out. Thanks anyway!
