I dunno about that Roger. Many people are in the 2x psi range on 408s with no internal problems.

My truck is at 8.65:1 and I had no trouble with around town driving. Also, what are you exact numbers for CR and boost you want to run?

Just noticed you're running an SC. I'd definitely do higher CR for that application. But the difference between 10:1 and 9.5:1 probably won't be noticeable when you are out of boost.

Completly agree with this, a half point drop you wont notice out of boost but it will help a bunch with how much timing/boost you can get away with. I would go no lower than 9:1 and no higher than 9.5:1. I've been planning a 408 with boost and have been going down the same path as you. Your running quite a bit more cam than I will. Good luck with the build

good info guys
it looks like no e85 then
I really dont have a hp, boost, or cr goal. I just don't want to limit myself. I would like to have room to grow without blowing up my motor again. lol
So you suggest 9:1-9.5:1 cr? I think my heads are 72cc(?) I'll have to check my paperwork. I'm not even sure if my driver side head is salvageable. I'll have to post some pics tomorrow.
Thanks again for the good info. looks like I have a good start for a plan.

Here are the pics.
Yes that is a crack.
Do you think the head is salvageable?

A local builder/machine shop says they can resleave that cylinder and go from there. It's a pretty reputable shop. I don't like the idea. I like new. Is the resleave that bad of an idea? Also they said the head could be salvaged. It would be a cheaper option.
I was thinking of buying a short block or long block minus the heads from Texas Speed.
Does anybody have any money I could have (not borrow)
