I have an HPE 224/224 .580/.580 114lsa and want to put it in.. I have retainers and springs for it.. But want to know if its safe to use stock push rods.. Also what heads should I get? i have a buddy who ports heads but dont wanna have down time while hes doin it.. Want to do it all at once..

01thunder had issues with a 224 cam in a 4.8 and had to go with 7.425 pushrods

Don't use stock pushrods, not only will they be incorrect in length probably, but they are not hardened and the increased tension of the valve springs can cause them to bend.

Really? Ill have to rememver to get those.. As for heads..Anyone got ideas? 4.8L, 5.3L, LS1, heads?

i was thinking about gettin some headwork done also. just buy some more factory ones, somebodys always got a set for sale, and just sell or store the ones you have now.

Werd on the pushrods...besides possible length issues, there may be flex issues at higher RPM's. Figure out what lenth you need, and get some hardened rods from Comp or Thunder Racing. As for heads, I highly recommend talking to Richard at WCCH, (sponsor, link to the right)...
