i have a 2000 chevy v6 1500 it has a new fuel filter..the truck is hard to start.. its spins over strong and started doing it after the filter was changed by a machanic shop bc it went in for the trans acting up and the fuel filter fixed the problem..

so it dont crank with the new fuel filter? make sure its on good and dont use a candle to find out...

when you crank it over can you hear the fuel pump humming or just the engine turning over? I had a 2000 4.3 and the fuel pump did not last long in that thing.

Get a fuel pressure gauge and check your pressure. Should be 58-60 at key on engine off, 56-60 while cranking, 52-55 at idle, and 60-62 at WOT.

thanks I'll try. It's a work truck with about 290000 miles it might be time for a new one

check cap and rotor very common
