Next build will be using something better than the stock 317s... may as well go ***** out then, right?
-Used on a 4xx cubic inch, 9.5 compression, probably turbo
-Having PatG spec me another cam
-RCSB truck, non-dd
The ones I am looking at are about the same price, just curious what you guys think.

From what ive read, the 3/8" deck of the heads above is enough for 20psi on average....at that point I am near/past the limit of pump gas with some meth, so its a whole new can of worms to push past that where 1/2" deck heads would be mandatory.... but is there a brand you prefer?

what block ? 6 bolt is key imo
with that said , 1/2 studs in place of the stocks also helps alot as lsx motors are known for head gasket issues at higher boost ( i blew one on my 370 from pushing it to hard)
also keep the most CC in the head you can this keeps the deck on the head as well.
i run tea tfs 235 cc 6 bolt heads with all the goodies. they are good to .650 lift( running 619 max) and i also opted to run the 1/2 bbc arp studs for insurance . then you could go even more crazy and o ring the bitch.
if your keeping the stock block and plan on making 1000+ i would 1/2 stud it and o ring it .
now that i didnt answer your question at all. cubic inch is key . if i were doing it again id go with the 245cc head
if i were going with a different style intake port id probably go with something from mast or wcch . trickflows are great but there is better now for the bigger cube guys .
when boosted though a perfect cylinder head isnt needed( 317 can work ) but you will benefit from a aftermarket head quite a bit , not as much as an all out n/a car but a good amount.

See I dont know specifics yet...my block has been at LME for a couple weeks now and they were suppose to have it torn down at the end of last week. I didnt get a call so I called earlier this week and was told the end of this week, so maybe tomorrow or Friday I will know something.
What I really need to know is if the block is still usable without boring the cylinders anymore. They were already at 4.040" and I wouldnt feel that comfortable running any bigger with boost since the cylinder walls are getting thin...if it turns out that cylinder can be fixed with just a hone then I will have the piston replaced and it will still be a 410. If, however, the block needs to be bored, I am very tempted to go with an LSX block and go crazy with those huge *** head studs and 6 bolt heads....but like I said, I should know more by the end of the week.
