Going to build a low buget LQ4 what to do???

Default Going to build a low buget LQ4 what to do???

Ok guys I bougt a 03 lq4 that I am going to put in my 72 2wd blazer. The motor lost oil pressure and smoked the crank for sure and I am not sure about the rods yet. I was thinking of turning it into a lq9, ls6 intake, boltons, pretty big cam since this will not be a daily driver and a th400 since I already have a the trans. What do you think, what would you do with a $1500 budget for parts ( used pistons, rods, and crank). Should I keep the 317's or go with some ls6 heads or what? And what kind of hp could I expect?

if you aren't planning on boost or nitrous i'd build the shortblock back stock. spend your money on some ls6 heads and a nice cam. would make about 400rwhp and be as reliable as a rock.

Ls6 heads on an LQ9 will get you a little higher compression. If you dont find any, then you can still do 241 LS1 heads and it will still work great. I would pick either one over the 317's for the compression.

I know somebody with used pistons, rods and crank. You can even reuse the bearings.

I think I have pistons, rods and a crank for an lq4 also...

if your gonna use ls6 heads, use lq4 pistons and it will be over 10:1 compression. lq9's are already 10:1 with the big chamber 317 heads
