Going with 408 and.....
#1
I blew the 5.3 in my 99 Silverado. My last dyno run was 400.0rwhp with that. I'm wanting 500rwhp with the new motor but don't really want to run the supercharger anymore. The truck gets driven almost on a daily basis in the summer and goes on road trips so I want to keep it streetable. What would I have to do to get 500 on a 408N/A or what would need to be done to the 408 with the charger to get the same number. Looking for recommendations on cam specs and heads and stuff too. I'm not too entirely smart with this motor stuff, figured I'd post and ask

I was looking at a Combination Motorsports motor. I called them once and the guy told me to do 10.5:1 CR with a 245/250 .630/.630 cam and the stage 2 heads to go with it. But that cam is gonna be freakin lumpy, sound good but then I need a much larger stall and for driving the truck alot I don't think it would be the best idea. I dont know though. Any body have a sound clip of a cam that big or in that range? CMotorsports has a $3800 price tag on the motor and the guy wasn't around to give me a price on heads.

beautiful truck man, if your just looking for 500rwhp and are not dead set of a 408 then i would just keep the whipple on there and save some money by doing a 6.0 with a FI cam. I definetly think that on 8-10psi a 6.0 would have no problem making that kind of power.

Do a forged pistons and rods stock crank 370 build. good heads and cam and you should see close to 425-450 n/a. and you would be able to get away with a 3000-3200 converter. But more cubes is going to help N/A HP.

Awesome looking truck!
Don't sweat the cam -- the cubes will eat most of it. A 24x will be a little lumpy. My 236 sounds pretty stock at idle.
