forged 370 oil pressure issues
#21
Oh without a doubt I will the person I talked to sounded concerned when I brought it up and wanted the engine back. sad thing is the oil pressure yesterday was right where the builder said it needed to be and next thing I know it starts knocking. builders name will be left out unless there are issues. I just don't have yhe time to sit here and would much 4ayher take it to a machine shop I trust.

Did you cut any of the filters open I read that you changed the filter like three times when you noticed the low idle pressure. Sounds like you have a spun bearing for sure. If you don't want to pull the engine out, I would at least pull the pan and pull a couple caps off. I bet you will find some brass bearings. Here are pics of my 408 when I did quite a burnout with the wrong oil in it.

I'm bringing this last filter in to work Monday to cut it open and see what I find. I have a feeling the mains or thrust bearing is junk. It just blows my mind that it randomly has oil pressure again and is now not knocking

Noo Pat. I was running 10-40 non synthetic in it from day one. Oil pressure was fine so I was wondering what 5-30 synthetic would do.
obviously oil pressure dropped a bit and that burnout really messed **** up. It spun a rod bearing, and blew out not one, but both header gaskets. OP, I drove the truck with the knocking for the next week or two before pulling it out. That's why all the other bearings look so bad.

those bearings were pretty well gone lol. I'm just stumped on why mine stopped knocking and now has oil pressure. I just don't get it and either way if it knocked I still want to send it back out because I don't trust this thing

I just found a thread saying that a black oil pump o ring is the incorrect one for the truck style pick up tube. Oil pressure is good when cold but drops ad warms up. Oddly enough the motor isn't knocking anymore also
