Default Forged 364 vs Forged 370

I don't know if its ever been covered before but I am looking for some opinions. I have a 6L here that is torn down and the cylinders are pretty clean. I was initially planning to build a 370 for boost but today i was thinking. Is there really that much of a difference in the 6ci I would get from boring it over? compared to putting forged pistons in the stock block? I could see it worthwhile if one of the cylinders was damaged but i have a clean block. The price for a torque plate bore/hone is about $470. Is it worth the 6ci?

It's not worth it IMO. Especially since your dealing with FI.

agreed. if the engine is in good shape, just put in some arp fasteners and turn up the boost.

If you are going forged either way, then no, 6ci isn't going to make any difference.

Yes the rods and pistons will be forged either way. I just always see and hear people boring out perfectly good blocks to 370 so I was wondering what advantage there would be?

Is it absolutely necessary to do a hone? it seems to be pretty clean. I think most shops charge the same price for a light hone and boring 0.030 over. But I have never asked about 0.005

Is it absolutely necessary to do a hone? The block I have has over 100K on it but it seems to be pretty clean. I think most shops charge the same price for a light hone and boring 0.030 over. But I have never asked about 0.005
it's not so much for the the sake of larger pistons as it is for ensuring roundness and good ring seal......but if you check the cylinders and they are within a tolerence you're comfortable with, then go for it

Thats way too much money. You should be able to get a +.oo5" tq plate hone for 150- 200.00. The problem with the factory bore is it's usually ~4.002" and not exactaly 4". Most manufactures make the pistons with a 4.000" bore in mind and you end up with too much clearence. Why they do this I have yet to figure out. Manley makes a piston that is for a 4.001" bore but I have yet to check it out.

You can see the crosshatching in the cylinders but I know you can take apart a 300k mile motor and still see it so i don't know how much that would tell. But the cylinders are smooth and it is an 07 block. I guess measuring would be the only way to tell.
