if i'm not mistaken that would be an lq9, if indeed it was pulled from an sss..

Ya, I've been reading hot rod magazine and there article about them. The price isnt really bad either for bare castings.

Going with an LS6 or LS2 casting would get your compression up in the range that you're looking for. You could also search around for people selling the re-worked 5.3L heads (valve size correction and ported) and really build some torque with it. If you go with the L92 heads you won't gain any compression. You will however gain alot of airflow and if you pick the rest of the parts right it will be very strong in the mid to upper rpm range.

If it had a 4L80E behind it and your truck has a 4L60 or 65E you'll have a problem. The cranks are different but you might already know that. You'll be happy with the 6.0, a lot of potential.

that's just on the earlier models...00-01 I believ...MOST 6.0s have a 80e behind them as they come out of hd trucks...all he'l have to do is use the flex plate from his 4.8/5.3...as long as its not and early model 6.0

but since it came out of an 03 ss he'll be just fine ...(as far as the crank goes anyways)
