Default famous question...camshaft drivability

I have sitting on the engine stand a fresh l73 with milled heads, static compression 10.7. Camshaft specs as follows222/230 .597”/.573” 112LSA +2 advance*(with 1.7 ratio rockers)

Comp EPS/XE lobes 54-000-11 3 bolt cam core

222/230 .597”/.573” 112LSA +2 advance*(with 1.7 ratio rockers)

Comp EPS/XE lobes 54-000-11 3 bolt cam core

13116R/3718R HR112LSA +2 advance (110 installed intake centerline) ivo 1 ivc 41 evo 49 evc 1 exhaust center 114 this is @ .05 with 660.tea springs and hardened rods. All otherbolt ons headers cai etc. Also tune myself

The truck is going to have a 2800 stall 4.10 gear .....this is going in a awd Denali which is a Daily driver . The truck is lowered with 275/40/22. My questions arewhat are your thoughts on driveability, idle quality, and longevity on valvetrain. The truck does occasionally.sit and idle.for periods.of time. I also have a Ls9 cam and springs on hand....I have to many options and cant decide...just need some honest opinions. This is my first heavy suv build I dont wanna take apart 20 times.

I couldn;t drive a 111 LSA with my truck as it had too many idle issues.
Went with 114 and it is excellent now.

Which engine is this going into? Looks like a square port cam to me.

It's definitely on the more aggressive side for a DD with 2* of overlap in a heavy denali.

I had zero problems dding my truck with my old 5.3, 223-226 610 605 110+4. my truck is far from light and it acted almost normal driving around but it was a different story at WOT. lol
new setup now is still my DD

You you could say that... but he was daily driving on big *** tires and a really loose converter. No thanks.

I dont like loose converters. Having a tighter converter you feel the lope in idle a lot more... it not pleasant IMO.

It's all personal preference and a lot of this is in the tune, I agree... but i really cant stand it when i see threads like this that IMO miss lead people.

Thanks for the reply fellows.....the engine 350ss yes is a ls2 pistons in a lq4 block (new) with square port heads. Tuning isnt really a concern I own efilive with wideband, and decently know my ways around. I honestly feel that I would be happier with the ls9 driveability, but leaving some mid range power on the table. And longevity of valve guides is a concern. I was really wanting some real life input from some people that may have a simular set up....either with a cam close to the custom grind or the Ls9 camshaft. Thanks again

I personally would do bigger stall or less cam. Although, i think you are really close to "splitting hairs" at this point. You are very close to what people would "generally accept". I think the opinions you are going to get now are going to make a marginal difference in comparison and really be based off preferrence.

This is the famous question. And if I'm being honest, no one is going to be honest with you. I love it when guys say "I have a 254/260 114+2 cam and it drives like stock"

The cam you mentioned can be pretty tame depending on who tunes it. But it will drive far from stock. If it were my truck, I would go with something smaller for my daily driver especially with it being a heavy but you will get used to the cam after a while. I see no issue daily driving that cam but just know it won't be like stock.

I shouldn't say it was normal but anyone could jump in my truck and drive it.
I do agree that a lot of it is in the tune.
it all comes down to personal preference tho, some people don't like bigger cams and loose converters, but for me it doesn't bother me
