how does this block sound instead of my old dead 5.3

yup on planning too.. to use as much as the old parts as i can..maybe some after market pistones

You should keep your eye out for someone selling a set of 317 heads. They will flow better then the 5.3 heads, unless you want to run the 5.3 heads for high CR.

yea tryna get a lil bump in compression ...which ones would be better if i port and polish them.. my 706's or the 317's

The 317 heads are nice but a 243 is better still..... Why not go with a LS2 block? Other than the covers and sensors can be a pain in the *** it's lighter. Hell SDPC has the L92 motor for $5300 or something retardedly low.

A LS1 block with 243 heads would be a nice upgrade. Lighter weight and more power.

whast the difference between the ls2 block and the standard 6.0 block right/? just that one is alumin. and the other cast iron right?

one is a genIII and the other is a genIV
different ecm, different sensors (cam, crank, etc.), and a few other changes.

and which one would that be???? would my cam work with the ls2 if i go that route? as well as my bolt ons?
