Default Emissions passing custom grind cams..

I was asked recently to spec a emmisions legal cam for an ls3. I live in Nebraska and needless to say gas can drip from the tailpipe and still pass here. I have an idea of where I need to be.. It's a small cam of course with about -4* overlap. But I was curious what other guys have ran and did they see gains. Or a noticeable gain from stock. (Seat of pants)

Just curious.. I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble, investment.. The one I have roughly speced is a modest 215/226@.050 on a 114lsa

A factory grind would work but they lose a lot of low end if you don't have a converter. I don't think many here are legal lol.

Ya I talked to Martin bout it, he's about where I am (OP) but said he hasn't done very many. But said the ones he has done have passed. Just was wondering if a couple Cali guys would chime in on it.. I'm gonna give it a try. Was kinda wanting to go a lil more aggressive with it but I think it will be fine as is. Still waiting to hear what my rep at comp says. .. I'll keep you guys informed. May be useful to someone on here. Just glad I don't have to mess with that stuff where I live.

im running a cammed truck in cali. it wont come close to passing emissions testing because your cam would have to be CARB OE compliant and have a CARB OE number. so please dont make your cam choice based on this **** hole state

Is your spec'd cam advanced at all? I got a cam spec'd to pass Cali emmissions from tsp, it's 215/223 114+4 lsa. It was spec'd for good lowend torque as a dd in a 98 ls1 with the importance that it pass emmissions. I would have ran it with the stock exhaust manifolds and cats. I don't remember my calculations but I believe it had around -6 degrees of overlap. I might keep it to put in a 370 whenever I get around to building one for my stepside...

Just because it don't have a carb sticker don't mean it can't pass. Unless you say something if it can pass the sniffer test it can pass. Wouldn't be the first person to do it. Is that legal to do? No, but doesn't mean it can't pass.
