A double one is twice as strong. A single is half the weight.

What is the purpose of a super strong one? Spring pressure or rpm?

With a double row timing chain you usually need to clearance the timing cover or get one that has more room on the inside for the dual chain dont you? Might want to keep that in mind. I don't know how high you spin your 'hoe but a lot of guys seem to use the katech c5r chain and have had good luck with it. I think it's like 198 bucks?

A double timing chain set is necessarily not twice as strong. A high quality single set (like Cloyes true roller) is often better than a cheap double set. I've seen some double timing sets have fitment issues on LS motors. My LS1 puts down 450 hp and I spray a 150 shot on top of that with "just" stock gears and a LS2 chain.

Does your goat have a timing chain dampener in it?

I'm only going to be spinning to about 6500. But I have dual valve springs. I ran stock gear and ls2 chain on my 5.3. The chain never broke but the gear sure did. And I lost the 5.3 because of it. So I'm trying to not do that again. The double rollers seem to be cheaper but I don't want to have to space the pump and clearance ****.

Just a quick side note. How hard are stock head bolts on a stock motor to get loose? Seems like last time I did it, it was a mother to break them loose. But on this lq4 I was able to just use a 3/8 drive ratchet. No breaker bar or anything. So either I got super strong with out working out or the bolts weren't torqued correctly.

The bolts should take some oomph to get off with a 3/8 ratchet.

If you're going to the trouble to replace the chain just get a C5R chain and be done with it. But make sure it's authentic.
