I had to use an 18" breaker bar to get the stock head bolts off. If you just used a ratchet and your strength, either you are a bad mother f*cker or the bolts were loose. Ha

Well three pistons are some what clean and one covered in carbon is some kind of messy black ****. And two of the walls have what looks like water marks in them. Like you find on a dirty glass. Let me see if I can post pics. I found some rtv on the headgaskets too. I think the heads gaskets were done not long ago or something.

IWIS single row timing chain. I was told this is what the Corvette racing team uses.

I talked to Brian tooley today. He said the stock gears are super strong. In fact I'm the first person he has ever heard of to break one. So I ordered just a chain and some new valve springs. I think mine are still in good order but I figure while the heads are off I might as well do seals and springs.

or you're just a huge vagina

i just use an impact when taking the bolts out. it super tough but i manage. i've done it by hand in the past and a standard breaker bar worked fine.

i'm curious. who all has seen a stock chain break???? why create mountains of ant hills. if 1 chain breaks of 1,000,000,0000 engines that GM has produced, why do we freak out and want a double chain? if it's not a common problem, dont worry about it. odds are, if it was a problem, you would have seen a recall for it 15 years ago when the LS engine started.

super ported oil pumps that send high volumes of oil....LMAO. the only engines i have problems from were ones that i removed OEM pumps from for "higher" quality junk. some "high quality junk" that i've seen doesnt even manage to keep the idle psi of a stock oil pump. i figure 80psi at 7,000+ is enough for me. face it. not many of us are spinning our motors to 9,000 rpm.

now my question, why the **** hasnt GM fixed the problem of exhaust manifold bolt heads breaking off? seems like it would be an easy fix. it's common. it's been happening for 15 years and it can be a PITA to fix. what the hell?

or, do the new trucks still have the issue of the abs/brake lights coming on at the same time causing you to lose ABS brakes. i've been in a dozen trucks with this problem, and there is not a single clear solution to fix the problem that i have seen. just a bunch of "try this"

who in the blue **** decided to point one of the horns up inside of the fender. the first time you wash under the hood, that horn is fucked and now your truck has a horn that is no more impressive than a smart car.

i can rant about stupid things chevy does all day lmao.

drunk codine induced rant. dont let me thread jack

I went with a double roller this time around. A broken chain can cost alot out of pocket. Better safe than sorry.
