Fixin to install my pistons and rods. the machine shop has one set (4) pistons on the rods with the dots facing towards the back and one set facing the front.. do i need these turned around? btw this is for an iron ls1

 

for all of our motors the dots face forward.... does the motor turn freely or sound like its hitting some where?

btw are they LS1 pistons or forged?

 

Dots always forward!!!!!!!!!!! You'll never have a good oil seal if you don't!

 

The dots go on top! The indicators are there to keep the wristpins offset in the same direction, wristpins are offset to reduce piston slap.

 

Yep kinda figured that would be a problem, gettin sent back to the machine shop for them to swap them around, hope they dont **** em up.

 

I wouldn't feel to confident about a machine shop that just put pistons in backwards...might want to spend a few more bucks to have another shop go over the first shop's work...that's pretty scary

 

Unreal. Go hurt someone at that machine shop.
