Default 215/218 545/555 vs. current cam

i got an awesome deal on this cam
i can get it on a 112, 114, or 116 LSA
Comp Cam 215/218 .545/.555

Seems like a great cam for a mild performer on a 114.
Truck has to pull mild things, less than 4k.
Also gonna look into a TB stall togo along with it.
Also this cam is only running me $200

thats a great deal for sure, but for a 5.7 build I would personally go a tad bigger, that would be very torquey though in a 5.7

Yeah that looks like a lot of truck for a 4.8 with much more cam than you allready have. Why don't you just get a 6.0L throw that cam in, and put it in the truck you have? You could probably do that for well under 2K. If you get any other 6.0L truck except for a SS or a Vmax your going to be pulling the weight of the HD

So how would that cam work in a 5.3 for towing a 6000# trailer? Stock converter in the trans.

the cam in my sig is similar, works great with my 4.8... But i can't tow anything due to my converter....

IMO, in a 4.8, you'd want a converter like BlackGMC has or the truck would be a bit sluggish down low...I'd say a 3200 verter at the least. I wouldn't want it for towing in a 5.3 with the stock converter either, and I'd think it would work well with a 2800-3000 verter. In a 6.0, it would work well with a mild converter, something in the 2200-2600 area, and you could still tow. Just my .02
