Do I need to shim the oil pump spring?
#1
Just ported the new oil pump and wondering if shimming the relief spring is necessary and if so how thick of a shim do I need? I''m thinking something about the same depth of the allen head retainer that the spring would normally sit in.......

Well for anyone interested, in the LS1 book they show an aluminum spacer from SLP that looks like it just fits in the recess of the allen plug. So I went with a couple of #10 (I think) stainless washers that left just enough space for the spring to sit in the allen plug. This should give slightly higher oil pressure. I'll let you know when I fire up the new 370..........

not needed unless you, well, NEED IT for some reason.
the stock setup will push upwards of 65psi+
the "old" rule was always 10psi for every 1K RPM (thus 65psi = 6500RPM)
LS1 manuals rate it at 7psi for every 1K RPM due to tighter clearance
