Default Cleaning Up Stock 5.3 Heads?

I'm going to be do some engine repairs on my 90k milee '01 ECSB in a couple weeks. I will be changing the lifters, cam, and probably timing set along with all of the required gaskets. I will have the heads off and disassembled for new valve seals as well. Would it be worth the time and effort to clean up the ports in these heads? Is there much cleaning that can be done? All I have is a Dremel so I'm not going to be able to get in the ports very deep or remove a lot of material.

Just curious, that's all.

If you you're doing it yourself and know where to remove material and where NOT to, then I say go for it.

The 5.3 heads can be improved upon, WCCH offers, or used to offer (not sure if they still do), a StageI 5.3 head. Not sure how much meat and what shape to make the ports though, and I doubt that the dremel will get in deep enough to maximize the ports, but as long as you don't go too crazy and don't disturb the ports in a way that will cause turbulence, I say go for it. I'd polish the combution chamber while I was in there if it were me.
