Don't go overboard with the air pressure. If you use too much the crank will spin. You MUST have the piston as close to TDC as possible so it doesn't try to rotate when the air pressure is added. Stay under 50lb psi. That's more than enough to hold the valves up with the piston at TDC.

ill be sure and keep this thread handy this weekend. now for the air gaskets that the ls1 article calls for, do i need those or was it just for the the camaros and such?

I dont kno if this was mentioned or not, but if you have any old spark plug wires of an old sbc motor. Cut the ends off and use those to keep the lifters up. cheap alternative to metal dowels and the store easier than wooden dowels.
