Default CC Gold 1.72 vs 1.82 Rockers

Hey, I have been trying to find out if the 1.82s are better then the 1.72 rocker ratio by comp cams. I received a set of the comp cams 1.72 gold rockers for my birthday and noticed that they had the 1.82 ratio out as well. Should I return them in exchange for the 1.82 or just keep them. Would you really notice the difference in performance? I just watched Horse Power on power block (tv show on spike) and they used the 1.82 ratio. I have the 212/218 high lift cam if this helps at all.
Maybe someone who has put these in there truck can chime in that would be great some real world experience.
Thanks a lot.

The higher ratio will allow for more lift, which could be useful if you plan on getting your heads worked in the future. If it were me though, I'd just stick with the 1.72's and get a different cam grind when the time comes that I needed more lift. The only 1.8's that I'd really want would be the Crane quick lift rockers, paired with one of their cam grinds as they've been designed to work together, and have shown excellent gains on dyno graphs that I've seen over on LS1Tech.com. I'd do a little research about the Comp rockers first though, to see if there have been any failures with them as there have been with pretty much every product that they sell. Even their cams have flattened out when paired with Patriot Gold rockers, which is probably a combo of improper hardening of the cam paired with unstable/excessive spring characteristics. Haven't seen too many other camshaft failures from Comp that I'm aware of though, and a large majority of us here are running their grinds with great results.

As far as roller rockers go, I really like the Cranes, and would like to some day run them with one of their cams if funds will allow. They are very pricey, but proven performers and fully adjustable to allow for perfect lifter preload. The YellaTerra's have a great rep AFAIK, and I myself have been running Harland Sharps for about 25k on a daily basis.

BUDHAYES3: Thank you very much for actually responding to my post. You gave me all the info I needed. I will just keep the 1.72s and run them with my fingers crossed. I have been hearing so much lately that all of comps stuff is going down the drain and I really hope they bounce back.

I don't think I'd run those Comps.

Plenty of guys making big power on stock rockers. If you're intent on upgrading them anyways, Crane or Harland Sharp are at the top of my list.

Glad to help man, I will keep my fingers crossed for you also, as I'm sure will Roger (AKlowriderZ71, who replied above). But, if you can, maybe take his advice (I always do ) and return the Comps for some other go fast goodies...if you could get the dough back for the rockers, you could get a nice Circle-D 278mm converter for $375, and still have some left over to put toward a TruCool 40k. If you have to spend the dough at the same place that the rockers were bought, then I'm sure that they have plenty of parts for the $450ish that I'm guessing those rockers cost...Detroit trutrac? gears?
