Default Carnage

Hear is a little bit of carnage. I couldn't wait, I had to knock a bigger hole in the oil pan so I could see inside. Just as I suspected, the rods bent untill the point of failure. 4 rods broke completly, and the rest are bent so bad the pistons touch the counter weights I have suspected I was shortining the rods for awhile now. My compression has ben dropping, and trap speeds were down, but no blowby. Also noticed a wierd knocking started up in the last few weeks, but oil pressure, and leakdown were good. The engine is a total loss, Block, heads, crank, are ruined, and the cam is broken in more than one place. This engine stood up to mid 10sec power and well over 700RWHP daily for months. The bearings had virtually no wear, and the crank still looks like chrome where it's not goudged. As you can see from the color of what little is left this engin had no easy life, I worked the **** out of it for years in it's other life towing heavy loads from Co, to Ca.

Well, I'd disagree with "stood up to mid 10sec power" as a whole, but agree with, "daily for months". It is a testament that these motors can take a licking, but it started to fail the first 10second pass IMO. I only point this out to bring recognition to the fact that if you boost her that hard, the stock components will fail.

You don't think the pistons breaking could cause all of that damage?

Man, thats awesome! Look at those piston rings, they look like curley fries.

EDIT - I just read your thread in the drag racing section.

Do you know what rpms were you at when it let loose? Did you have a laptop hooked up logging that run? I'd love to see what the logs looked like.
