I really need to get into the bottom of my engine to replace the O-ring in my oil pickup tube..has anyone been able to remove their oil pan without removing the front differential?....i have a 2000 Silverado Z71....

 

any-b done this... ?? do you all know if all o-rings are the same? i need to replace mine, but I've seen red/green/ blue o-rings for the pick up tube..

 

Well i have a 99 sierra with the 5.3L, i used the Red newer style o-ring, solved my oil pressure problems i was having, when i first did my cam swap i never replaced the stock old blue one that was in there.

And YES you can drop the pan enough to get in there, i did it several times now, although that bolt for the pickup tube is always very annoying to get back in. Just take your time doing it.

That's weird cause my oil pump took the green o-ring and yes you can drop the pan enough to get to it but its a PITA.

 

I have done it as well and it is a long job but can be done.
