Cam for most power under the curve through stock heads?

new to the site, been reading up alot on cams for the 5.3.. many people r running the 212/218 grind with good results. some run a little bigger like the 220/220 or 224/224. It seems like the non split grinds do well but im sure one can always pic up a few hp running slightly more duration on the exhaust side on any grind. My real question is. Has anyone run a bigger cam with good overall results throughout the entire power band without making the motor feel like a turd down low? or r the 220/224 grinds about the limit for our small motors? Im not looking for just a peak hp number but more of a mid end cam that will land solid #s at the track.

Getting a stall is not a problem. I also thought of the old man trucker cam thunder offers. Wish they had a dyno of one in a 5.3.. I know peak numbers don't translate to the best track times. Lookn for the best performer out at the track for sure. So far under 220 degrees have votes

Get a Yank and start thinking about the cam when the Converter fun starts to wear off.
Maybe for some money is no object but for me it is. Converter (with Drag Radials) and Spray will give you the most bang for the buck. My first Yank dropped a full second off my E.T. Your truck will still be a super sleeper, a lopeing cam is a dead give away... But it does sound cool....

Look at the track records of the 212/218 and 220/220 and decide for yourself how much converter you want to run and what results you want. Both of those cams have proven themselves in the 5.3. If you want a 220/224 that will be fine also but it will react differently than the 220/220...
