Wow 40rwhp on a mild 87oct tune is a very nice pickup for such a small cam. I bet with some 93 and a more agressive tune you can hit 50rwhp gains from a small cam only. Pretty cool for a baby cam.

we have trucks getting the same HP with out the cam.
i really expected more as per Comp Cam's tech guy.
is this really a small cam for a DD and tow vehicle ?
I wanted to use the stock conv, i also do a lot of long
distance driving on the Tpk at 70-75mph

285rwhp on a stock cam? In a 5.3? That would be a extremely healthy Bolton 5.3. I assumed the baseline of gaining 40hp was pretty good. That would be considered a mild cam with odd specs in most every circle. Even in a DD. I would suggest something with more intake duration and less exhaust duration. That wide split duration doesn't make much sense to me. 216/220 or similar specs would work great in your setup IMO.

I agree the wide split does not make any sense even with the 799 heads. But being that style head it will respond better to a split then 862 or 706 heads. But no more split then 10 degrees should be needed unless you are running stock manifolds and using it for a band aide.
Would respond well to a ProCharger though...
