I can make an air pressure adapter out of an old plug. Summit has a few different spring compressors I'll go halves with ya on one.

The ones at pep boys were $7 each. That's 56 plus tax. I don't know if I'd trust a $1.50 magnet. What if the head of the pen magnet breaks off on the lifter? Then what are you gonna do?

I think my point was that using some metal dowels will work just as well and cost you about $5.

Although I will say that pen magnets are amazing when you're working on an engine. It's great to have a couple handy

Could you also use wooden dowels? Why do you say to grind a groove down the length of the dowel?

thats wat Quik told me to use for mine and he used them for his

just make sure they dont break lol

That's the exact reason why. I sure am glad I didn't use wooden dowels too. My careless *** left the metal rods in and I torqued the rocker arms down with rods still in and if they were wood, they could have split.
