Default Cam help for 5.3

Hey im pretty new to this and need some help. I have an 02 sierra with a 5.3. I have all the bolt on's i can get long tubes, true duals, 4.11 rear w/posi locker, jasper 4l60e, 80mm tb, hp tuners, k&n cold air. Its kinda fast but i want faster i dont want a turbo or super but im thinking of doing a cam and torque converter. What are you guys suggestions on this I do not want to buy new heads or really even redo my stock heads if i can avoid it. Is ther a cam that will make some power with stock heads? also im thinking about getting a 2800-3200 stall to put in. Ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

That sound pretty good I was also looking at the xr275hr from comp its 222/224, 112 lsa, .566/.568 lift would this be a good fit? Also how hard are these things to install is it a weekend garage job or something that needs to go to a professional?

Stock heads aren't going to flow any better than .550 lift, so you won't need to go too extreme on those specs. Since you have long tubes and no plans on ever touching the heads you might benefit from a reverse pattern cam (one with longer intake duration than exhaust) but there wouldn't be anything wrong with the cam you listed if that's the avenue you decided to go down.

the swap itself shouldn't be too complicated if you're mechanically inclined and researched enough about the engines but one thing usually snowballs into another, so if you set out to just swap cams you might find yourself needing new valve springs, pushrods, tune, etc.

Zippy runs that cam in his 5.3 with stock heads and he's very happy with it

Check in the GM Parts Classifieds section and/or start a WTB (wanted to buy) thread

I have the same tranny and intake and headers, hell the same year of truck with the same engine.....how ever the cam I put in my truck is the GM hot cam. Its the biggest u can go with a stock style converter! 218/228 .525-.525 lift on a 112lsa! It dont have a lot of punch outta the hole cuz I still have stock gears. But u have 4.11s so u should b good!! When u get around 2800 rpm u better hang on cuz the truck just comes alive! O u need todo springs and push rods also. I went with the ls6 springs and COMP pushrods!
