Default Cam guys here please advice for my 2002 4.8

Just looking to see what cam you guys would recommend. it a 2002 GMC Sierra 4.8 auto regular cab truck . I t is my daily driver and I will tow my hot rod with it on occasion. I am looking for a nice lobby sounding cam at idle. let me know what you recommend thanks in advance.

I had my TR224 in my 4.8L wiht upgraded valvetrain - the only issue i had with is when the brakes were applied and was stealling vacum pressure it wanted to stall out, but that could have been the tune also...

Converter will play a big roll in what cam you get or what you can tow... If your not big on sticking a big converter in a 212-218 comp would be nice on a 112+2( might have to have that custom ground) Do a search, this ?? gets asked a million times..

I don't really know what cam is going to give you some lope, increase low end, and work well towing in a 4.8. Power wise you could do like Mangled metioned and go with a small grind, but I don't know how it would work towing. Most cams in a 4.8 are going to need a looser converter.

Vig, Circle D, Yank... Take you pick. I love my Yank but my Tuner hates them. I have come to trust him on these things. He like Vigilante.

My Yank has been flawless for over 2 years most of the brands guys run on here, YANK- CIRCLE D - VIG( the big 3) are all good, have a great track rec.. You need to decide what your comfy with in terms of stall speed... The z o6 cam would be great if your boosting it, but there is other choices that will be better suited..

I guess as far as a stall goes I had a 2800-3200 convertor when I had my mustang . I would be good with that in my truck as well I guess.

remember though that if you wanna run a decent size cam in any auto that you are gonna typically need more stall in a truck bc it is alot heavier than a car. big stalls and deeper gears gets theses heavy pigs moving out.
