Cam Face Off: BTR Stg 2 Truck vs Lunati 212/218 for stock 5.3?
the specs on both of these cams is nearly identical, but they are on different lobes.......what would this mean in terms of idle and driveability?.....one of these will be going in a 2000 Silverado RCSB 5.3, stock stall, Flowmaster 50 dual exit....(i'll be adding LS6 springs, ported oil pump, ls2 chain, ls7 lifters, ls2 trays).....down the road i'll add 1 3/4 headers, y-pipe, maybe a circle d 2600-3000 stall.....this is a daily driver that has had a lifter ticking for about 6 months.....i dont care how fast it is when i'm done, but i don't want it to be a dog......i really just want it to sound good while sitting at a stop light....open to suggestions

i would go with BTR cam because of the higher lift.
i however have a trickflow cam that im about to return unless you want it. 216/220 .560/.560 114lsa along with the front felpro seals, arp crank bolt with 3/4" drive socket, and lucas assembly lube.
all you would need is the lifters, pushrods, and new springs. i would go with the pac-1218 for a little more seat pressure then the ls6 but they may be fine.

i like the Pac springs, im running 1518's on my Camaro.....im thinking i'd probably need to do the stall with the trickflow cam, just dont have it in the budget right now.....i dont plan to run this truck hard, so i'm going to stick with the stock pushrods for now, unless i slap a .030 milled set of 241's on.....

no sir, i have a spare set of 241's sitting here......i know i wouldn't really gain much with them, but these are ready to go and the stock 862's will have to come off to get at the ticking stock lifter......i think .030 milled off a set of 241's leaves you with about a 62cc chamber, pretty close to stock 862 size.......i haven't decided if i will use the 241's or just drop the 862's off at the machine shop and have them freshened up.

241's don't flow all the much better then the 862's even with the larger intake valve. also would be loosing just a hair of compression, probably not much to notice but still there. if you had the 862 heads shaved to 59cc that would bump you to around 10:1.
