The new, revised silver Comp 918's are prone to breaking too, and after the inside info I learned about how Comp gets their valve springs supplied to them (they don't make their own, even though I've seen in their literature that they do), I will never buy any style of valve spring from Comp ever again. If you want to go with a beehive, get the PAC 1218's, their track record is impeccable and their price isn't through the roof. The 1218's are good to .600 lift and their 1518's are good to .650. I only know of one broken PAC 1218 on this board and it was never determined whether the spring was at fault, or the installer

BTW, PAC did have an issue not to long ago with their 1518's breaking, and they quickly got on it and resolved the issue, and have been very good to customers who have broken 1518's. Not for nothing, but if you break some Comp parts, it's hit or miss on how Comp will handle it...seems like it depends on who picks up the phone at that time ;

BTW

I had a PSI Max Life spring set on my truck and they had been good up until we had some very cold weather. I had one break on start up. I am not sure if that was just luck of the draw or due to cold weather. PSI did send me a replacement spring at the cost of shipping.

Screw Comp. I had 3 918s broken in the exact same place on the first coil. One dropped a valve and put a hole in a piston and ruined the head. I've been using PG duals ever since.

I had a 1518 break on me but PAC and texas speed straightened it right up and sent me a whole new set within one or two days. Both company's will always have my business. Can't blame PAC. Its and aftermarket performance parts....**** happens. I Cant say much about the 918's because iv never ran them but from what iv read I probably never will.

PAC has noted that they had a bad batch of 1518's, and as you mentioned, they are doing a great job of rectifying the issue. From what I've seen, they will replace the customer's "bad" 1518's right away, and the new replacements are different then the problem ones, and shouldn't give you any problems.

Glad that you gave props to Texas Speed also, their customer service has always been excellent in my experience

On a side note, from what I've learned from my pop...when I can afford to put my LQ9 together, I will be swapping out the yellow LS6 springs in my WCCH StageII 317's for some Manley Nextek duals with titanium retainers. The springs will not have dampers on the ends (flatten out on the end of the spring), as I've been told that the dampers can dig into the retainers and shorten their service life. I'll see if I can find the part numbers as soon as I get a chance (I'm at work now, and have the info somewhere at home), or you can just go on Manley's site (if you're interested), and the different springs available are listed there. IIRC, the Manley's that I want are good to .650ish lift, and have an open spring pressure of around 406ish.

i couldnt agree with you more! comp insisted the new 926 springs are what i needed, which they were, they were the ideal spring, but there material failed and took out a very expensive build ill never use another one of there springs again ( wish i hadnt used those )
