Default black smoke and knock

I was doing some wot scans to email to a tuner to help with some idleing issues after a cam install. After a couple of runs, the truck began to emit smoke from the tailpipe. Also, there was alot knocking and rattling in the engine.

I had a cam installed about 2 months ago and this happened one time. Did not seem as bad the first time. The guy who installed the cam put some silicone around some of the (parts but can't remember). Anyway, after he did that, I did not have a problem until today. This time it seemed worse (lots of smoke and heavy knocking). I had to go to the dealer anyway to fix some minor bugs and when I got there, I checked my oil and there was none on the dipstick.

I am having them check things out. Anyone have a similar problem?

By the way, I had my stock pushrods replaced with hardened pushrods and springs changed to comp. 918's. And the cam specs are:
Duration at .05"
218/222
Intake valve lift - .564
Exhaust valve lift - .552
Lobe separation 112
Intake centerline 108
4 degrees advance

I didn't add any. While I was getting some minor bugs worked out at the dealer, I told them to change the oil (it was close to needing an oil change anyway). While I was at the dealer, I checked the dipstick but there was no oil on the dipstick.

is it still knocking. If you had an oil leak that bad, you would be able to tell where it was on the pan! The stealership didnt say anything about it?

This occurred just prior to bring to the stealership. The smoking and knocking happened immediately after I was doing some wot scans to email to a tuner to get the idling issues resolved. It was just a coincidence I was going to the dealership anyway to have them check fix 2 non-engine related bugs. When I got to the dealership, I checked my oil and noticed none on the dipstick. I left the truck there for them to check out and to fix the other 2 items (steering and electric window).

Jim, did your check engine oil level light ever come on, if not the stealership should check that too. I know my 5.3 started consuming a little oil after teh cam swap. If you oil was low, that could cause the knocking, and if the PCV was stuck it could possibly have caused a little oil to come through the intake. Other than that Im lost.
