Default Big pushrods worth the cost?

I am doing a pretty common boosted 5.3 build, I really so t plan on pushing it much past 7,000 rpm and want to know if I will be fine using some 5/16 .080 wall pushrods or if I really should look at getting some bigger pushrods.

I really don't want to spend the money if i don't have to, but I will if it will make a noticeable difference in power/longevity/reliability.

Build specs as follows:

Forged rod/piston 5.3
Triple12 cam
Edelbrock proflo
Mildly ported 241's
S480 80/87, t4, 1.10 AR
4l80 swap with yank 3400
Stock 3.73's

I would....$10 extra is worth some 3/8" pushrods, especially with heavier valve springs.

I've made close to 1100 rwhp with 5/16"

Now for my 427 I do have 3/8 heavy wall pushrods but mine are also 8" long

You'll be fine.. I have 5/16 .080 wall pushrods with heavy 2.165 l92 valves and have my two step at 4000 rpm..

Springs will be PAC 1218's, if this thing makes more then 750 I will be very very happy. I have heard about issues with 3/8 fitting, so either using a double taper 3/8 or an 11/32 but the price gets pretty hefty pretty fast when looking into manton or smith bros.

Comp makes 3/8" pushrods for a pretty reasonable price and they have fit all my heads fine. The size selection isnt as vast as the 5/16 but theyve had ever size Ive needed.

with a 1218 you wont need the heavier rod... just my opinion. Keep the valvetrain light.

exactly what I was going to say. 5/16 will do the job on a standard length pushrod. mine are 7.90 so I stepped up the size since they are longer.

My manton stg 5 custom length .095 wall 3/8" PR came in right at $250 - I think they were the cheapest performance part I bought, thought they were a bargain. lol
