wow, excuse the **** outta me, mr perfect. I was only seeing if I could salvage my whole motor as opposed to having to part out what I dont use.

UPDATE:
Well, despite my passion for a stroker looks like getting a 6.0 is gonna be more likely and a little nicer on my wallet. Theres a place here in PHX that pulls em and sells them as a whole for a good price. So it looks like Ill pick one of those bad boys up in a couple months then get some heads and a cam in it before I drop it in.

you could probably reach that goal easily with an lq4 but it would be easily obtained with an lq9 either way it isnt goin to take much more than a cam and a little head work to reach that goal . the next project you need to worry bout after that is finding you a 4l80e i just ran into that problem after my lq4 swap now i got y 4l80e just waitin for my cross memeber to be finished you will love either of the 6.0's.

sweet deal man, good to hear.
I am definitely gonna give it a big cam. I may put heads on it if I come across them, but that could be a later down the road thing. The 80e may be purchased at the same time but I doubt it. The 6 will probly go in and kill the 60e before I go ahead with the 80. Do I need a crossmember specially made or can I hack mine up?

Oh? The 4.8L/5.3L stock heads are the worst Gen III heads made from GM, prove me wrong otherwise. They still make good power for a stock truck but we're not talking about a stock 5.3L anymore are we? No, instead my suggestions are based off a 382 cubic inch motor, of which 4.8/5.3L heads would be poorly matched for. All things need to be considered for the application at hand. Application application application. I cannot stress that enough.

If it's a 2000 then it's technically a Gen III. Generation III and IV small blocks are all pretty much the same except for displacement on demand and a few other neat technological tricks GM put on Gen IV motors and thought the motor was worthy of a being called a whole other generation of motors. To me, they're all Gen III because they're nothing like small block "gen I" motors and have nothing in common with LT1/4 motors that are considered "Gen II". If GM designed a new block and rotating assembly, then I'll start considering these DoD motors after '04 to be a newer generation.
