We r building a 2001 LQ4 6.0 and we will be completely rebuilding it and putting the TBSS intake and 243 heads. My qeustion is I would like to put the TBSS cam in it (I think 208/214) but I have overheard some sort of issue with then 01 engine and something about a reluctor wheel. Can anyone shed some light on the situation? And I I can't use the TBSS cam is there a similar replacement that would work in the 01 LQ4 block?
As always thank u guys for your feedback!!!

What is it going in? Goals? If your wanting something with close to those specs the comp 212/218 low lift is a great torque cam and will work with a stock converter. Or you could step up to something in the 220 range. Or you can have a cam custom spec'd for your application.
To run the tbss cam you would have to swap out the front timing cover for a ls2 cover because that's where the cam sensor is located. Then you would have to extend the wires to the new.location.

I like my thunder racing cam. It's a cheatr v3 219/230 117lsa. I got it cuz I'm hoping to go boosted but I'm running nitrous right now! It sounds perfect to me cuz it's in my dd and you barely tell its cammed and it runs great! Although application may vary for mine is in 6.0 but talk to the guys at thunder racing and tell them what you are looking to get out of your truck.

running a custom grind cam in my 4.8 love it performs well but u can defintiely tell its cammed. have pat g or call comp directly tell them ur mods and goals and they will spec one out for u. mine is a 215/22 on a 113 with .602/.604 lift

OP, what other mods are you doing? Converter, gears, ect. If your not going to change converters, I would stay somewhere around 218 duration and under.

Also, I've used Pat G on my 408 build and he was great to work with. I would recommend him. Just order the cam strait from comp so you don't get stuck waiting over a month for it to show up.
