small duration+high lift=hell on small springs
large duration+high lift=not easy on small springs
and of course your driving habits, also beating on it before the engine is up to operating temp will decrease life since the springs are fairly brittle until they get hot.
I wouldnt worry about going 20K on a 580ish mid 220 duration cam, then replace them, its just good preventative maintenance since breaking one can cost 10xs more than replacing springs and 2 hours of your time.

YES! He has over 11:1CR, 3800 stall, blah blah blah and he is having problems getting it to run how it "should" bigger is NOT always better. Look into something in the High 220s LOW 230s, ook what slowprocess ahs done on a small 224. Also depends on the size stall you are going to run and gear
