862 Heads on a 6.0?
#1
Trying to get some figures. I have a chance at an 01 6.0. Owner says its got "burnt valves" so then would I be able to just swap the heads from my 4.8 (862s) to the 6.0? Also what kind of compression would I get? y's and y not's would be appreciated. Thanks

from what I've read: Stock "5.3 heads": (Im guessing 862s? if not they arent far off?) 61.15cc chambers, 1.89" INT valve, and 1.55" EX valve.
Stock 6.0 heads: 71cc chambers, 2.00" INT valve, 1.55" EX valve.
So Im asking for input: is the boost in compression gonna be worth the some what smaller INT valve, or should I maybe do some stock LS1 heads with a 66.67cc or LS6 with 64.45cc chambers that flow much more up top?
Stock 6.0 heads: 71cc chambers, 2.00" INT valve, 1.55" EX valve.

Zippy did 6.0 with 5.3 heads.
I don't like it. What's the most important factor in making power? Air. What are you doing with 5.3 heads? Choking off the engine. 1 point of compression is only 10 hp anyways apparently.

ok. my whole problem is that the motor Im buying is supposed to have "burnt valves" and I wont know untill I take it apart probly not till next sunday
so maybe Ill just buy some new valves or something untill I get an opportunity for buying heads?
