Well 243 heads fell threw would the 862 heads be worth milling since they will be off anyway?
Yeah since you're wanting to raise compression. While you're there at the head shop, have them at a minimum, do a multi/5 angle valve job, maybe bump the intake size up to 1.9x-2.00, have the seats and back of the bowls that meet the seats cut (opened up) and blended to match. A little work around the valve stem, carefull around the short side radius, and those heads should flow pretty damn well. You could smooth out the ports a bit (no need to hog 'em out), but the flow gains are to be had in the areas that I mentioned first. Just a few thoughts if you were going to be taking the heads into the shop anyhow....
Valvetrain wise: Need good springs for that cam, buy a pushrod length checker use it first THEN order rods, think about doing the rocker arm trunion bearing upgrade.....
