Default 8.1 liter injectors into a 5.3 liter engine

I have heard you can put 8.1 liter injectors in a 5.3 liter engine. Is this true? How much trouble will it be to do this? Is it worth the trouble, and what components do I need to do this if i decide too?

You can swap them right in, but the PCM needs to be reprogram for them. They will not give you any more power, unless your current injectors are maxed out and you need more fuel. From your sig, I don't believe they are.

will the superchip reprogram work or do I need a custom tune, and are the 8.1 injectors even worth it?

No, it will not. You would need a custom tune. There is no point in putting them in unless your motor needs more fuel, stock injectors in a mostly stock 5.3 are fine. Now if you had a 6L and a big cam and were wanting to turn higher rpm, you would need bigger injectors. Other wise, they will do nothing for you.

He's right. Unless you're running some serious mods in your 5.3L you shouldn't need to change injectors yet. They may be worth picking up to keep for when you do need them, but you likely don't yet. You will want someone with a normal tuning software to program them in for you.

When me and BlackGMC logged my truck after the cam swap, I was running about 105% IDC at high RPMs. You think it'd be worth swapping injectors yet?

Well that is about what mine is now around 10x and I have some 8.1L injectors on the way. From what I have gathered most say if you are in the 90's and higher it is a good thing to change them. I am waiting to see how much they drop my IDC.
