Well I took what you were saying in a different manner. But yes said guy would be ignorant to build a 700+ ci motor to put in a truck and drive around.

And yes the diesel stuff is normally fairly close with that formula. If a diesel truck makes 1000 ft/tq at 2500 rpm at that rpm its gonna be making close to 476 hp. Diesel stuff normally makes over dbl. the tq. And if the F1 engine is only making 202 ft/tq what rpm is that at. And at that same place in peak tq what is it making for hp. The formula doesnt figure peak hp it only figures the power its making at that point in the rpm range.

Either way not trying to argue. I just miss-understood your statements.

Ok I found some info on F1 engines. The one that I found was a tested at the end of 2006 season. It was the 2.4 V8. The engine made peak tq at 17,000 rpm and made 214 ft/lb. The engine made peak hp at 19,000 rpm and made 755 hp. So as per the formula
214 x 17000 / 5252 = 692 hp. As we know peak torque is always made lower than peak hp. And the tq will continue to drop after peak is made. So dropping alittle bit of tq down to 208 and gaining 2000 rpm the hp comes out to the 755 that it made at 19000 rpm.

This isn't LS1tech, I doubt anyone's gonna get all hot and personal over here! I like discussions too!!
Some of the slow speed Diesel's that I work on when I'm not a pansy mate ( didn't know that did you bigredmariner) they make ~25,000hp at 108 rpm's, guess what the torque is!!

Haha yea thats one of the bad things about tech and why alot of people dont post over there.

On that engine you are talking about I can only imagine what the torque is. Is it a
2 stroke diesel or just a regular diesel. I dont really know much about those huge boat engines. When I worked at an industrial machine shop. I had to go repair broken head bolts in a large Barge diesel engine. They had broken a bunch of the bolts and I had to get the broken pieces out, repair the threads, and put inserts in them. Then new bolts all while sitting on top of the engine cramped up. It sucked

Lol yeah that sounds like a shitty job! The cool thing is the head studs on slow speed diesels get stretched by pneumatic vices so that you can tighten down on the nuts. And then when they are tight they release the tension on the threads and it squeezed back down on the nut. Because man hasn't invented a impact gun the size of a small house yet!!

They are two stroke diesels and their torque is around 1,000,000. Pretty cool engines.

Yea thats pretty cool. I figured it would be a 2 stroke diesel. I wish I new more about them. Im a machinist/tech at Speedtech nitrous. So we do alot of Promod stuff.

If you plug in the formula on the info you have said it is still pretty close.
